I get this complaint all the time from folks who have just started out with their video, "I am getting a lot of views. People love my video. But I am not getting any traffic. This doesn't work!" Which is sad, because video DOES work. If you are willing to do just a few simple things to help it along.

And there is one simple action that can skyrocket the results from your videos more than just about any other thing you can do. And that is: Strengthen your call to action at the end of the video. So just what is an effective video call to action?

Its an invitation (not a pitch!) to collect a free gift, laden with benefits, geared towards solving your viewers most intractable problems or help them realize their most cherished dreams. So if you are a public speaking coach, it might be a Five-Step Checklist to Double Your Speaking Fees in 3 Months or Less. If you are a marketing consultant, it might the "Top 10 Money Leaks in Every Business, and How to Fix Them". The gift can be in the form of:

  • A series of videos
  • A downloadable report
  • An action checklist
  • A resource guide
  • An audio recording or a combination of these.

They key is you are providing concrete value to your prospects in exchange for their email address. Note its not about you (Read my book! Come to my website!) Its about them: "Claim your gift that can solve (specific problem) once and for all!"

The biggest mistake video producers make is assuming folks love your video and will click on your URL to find out more about you. The truth is -- they won't. They have much better things to do with their time. Unless, of course, you make it worth their while to pop on over to your site. Its that simple.

Most video creators simply won't take the few extra steps to make this work. But if you do, you will discover the benefits 98% of your competitors miss. Here are the keys to an effective call to action at the end of your video:

Make it relevant: The subject of your call to action should flow from your video. A funny video with a call to action on a totally different subject will get lots of views, but few click throughs.

Make it irresistible: Don't hold back. Give them some of your best stuff. Contrary to what many folks believe, the more valuable the bonus at the end of your video, the greater the chances they will be back for more.

Make it evident what it is you do: Sometimes I watch these beautiful inspirational videos, but I don't have a clue what that person can offer me. Are they a coach? Can they help me achieve financial security? They never say. So I never click thru. Don't make your viewers guess how you can help them. Make evident the benefits of staying in touch.
